Hervé Lenouvel
Born in 1960 in Brittany, Hervé Lenouvel spent his formative years immersed in the bucolic landscapes near the forest of Brocéliande. Drawing inspiration from his rural upbringing, he cultivated a deep affinity for art from a young age, initially exploring drawing before transitioning to painting. A self-taught artist, Hervé delved into various painting techniques, experimenting with watercolour and gouache before finding his true artistic voice in oil paint.
Initially gravitating towards a figurative style, Hervé gradually embraced a more intuitive approach, crafting a suggestive visual language that flirted with abstraction. Despite being labeled an abstract painter, he maintains a strong connection to figuration, as his subjects are inherently tied to the natural world. Central to Hervé's artistic vision is chromatic harmony. Color, with its emotive power and expressive potential, guides his hand across the canvas, dictating the rhythm and flow of his compositions. Today, Hervé Lenouvel continues to reside and create in Brittany, his works celebrated across galleries in France, England, Canada, and the USA.
